Doula Support

‘Doulas’ are common practice in many Black communities and cultures. However the current UK scene and services do not always feel confident in supporting Black birthers, particularly in a maternity system not built for them. We are delighted to welcome our ‘Doula in Residence’ Dionne. You may just want to talk generally about your pregnancy, birth or postnatal period or there may be a specific topic you’d like to cover. Read more about Dionne below and go ahead and schedule a chat.

Although Dionne is a trained Midwife these consultations are not Midwifery appointments; families cannot be advised, assessed, diagnosed or treated. Dionne is here to provide reassurance and information is to support families reaching their own empowerment.

Hello! My name is Dionne and I’m a Doula.

I also happen to be a non-practising Midwife and have been providing perinatal reassurance, support and education for over 24 years.

Creating safe spaces where birthers and families can access sound and holistic perinatal support, is in my opinion paramount within these times; at all times.

I have had the privilege of working with families from widely varied backgrounds and pride myself on my relatable approach and ability to communicate.

I'm so pleased to be teaming up with Black Mothers Matter for this important project and look forward to meeting you online!
