Emotional & Mental Health Support

A pregnancy, a loss, becoming a parent or extending your family all come with changes to not just your physical health but your emotional health too. Good emotional health is often not given the attention or consideration it needs - by ourselves or professionals - especially as a Black person.

Therapy can be a really good way of improving your health and you may find it useful speaking to a professional who shares some context and understanding or your identity.

You may be feeling lonely, be feeling angry, have trouble resting or be struggling to move on from thoughts that worry you. These are some common feelings in the perinatal period and do not make you weak, fussy, a poor person or parent. You do not have to grin and bear it, you do not have to keep quiet and ‘accept your load’. Good mental health looks different to everyone what worked or was ok for an Auntie or neighbour may not be right or ok for you.

We’re delighted to work with Dr. Orinayo Onabanjo who specialises in perinatal mental health therapy. Get in contact if you’d like to schedule some time with Dr. Orin or hear more about how she may be able to support you.

Dr Orin is a chartered counselling psychologist with an immense passion for delivering psychological therapy, birth debriefs, mental health consultations and perinatal wellbeing workshops to mums experiencing a range of mental health challenges, during the perinatal period. Dr. Orin can support you with postnatal depression, anxiety and birth trauma.

Her skills also include helping mums cultivate stronger attachments with their babies, and addressing the impact unresolved childhood trauma can have on the journey of motherhood. Having worked in mental health for over 10 years, she brings a wealth of experience to her role as a psychologist specialising in perinatal mental health.
